Discover how to view uncertainty in EarthScan

After reading this article, you will learn:

How do I view uncertainty in EarthScan?

For the six risk categories that represent specific hazards (heat stress, precipitation, flooding, wildfire, wind and drought), you are able to view the representative metrics.

For example, if you select heat stress as your risk category and scroll down to the Insight titled 'Heat stress risk', you can view the change in the two heat stress metrics - heatwave length and maximum temperature.

For each of the representative metrics, you can select the uncertainty toggle within the Insights based on metrics.

How uncertainty is visualized in EarthScan

If you select the uncertainty toggle, you can view the full range of the uncertainty.  When you select the uncertainty toggle, the range of uncertainty will appear in your EarthScan Insights, shaded blue.

The range of uncertainty varies across signals and depends on the location, scenario, return period, and time frame selected. For some assets, the range of uncertainty may be large enough to change the scale on the Y-axis of your EarthScan Insights.
