Invite users to your EarthScan™ Organization and customize user permissions

EarthScan Organizations
In EarthScan, Organizations are an organizing function to group together Portfolios and users relevant to your company.
Your EarthScan Organization contains your Org home where all your Portfolios are stored, your Asset Library and a Permissions page.
Each user within your EarthScan Organization is assigned a user role that defines the permissions they have access to. When you invite a new user to join your EarthScan Organization, you will be asked to assign them a role depending on which permissions you would like them to have.
EarthScan user roles and permissions
There are three types of user roles in EarthScan. Each role has their own level of permissions within the Organization.
- Members - users can view, create and share Portfolios
- Admins - users have the same permissions as Members. And they can also:
- Invite users to join the Organization
- Remove Members from an Organization - but they cannot remove Admins
- Promote users from Members to Admins - but they cannot change Admins to Members
- Org Owners - users have the same permissions as Admins. And they can also:
- Remove Admins from an Organization
- Change users from Admins to Members
The user who sets up the EarthScan Organization is automatically assigned the role of ‘Org Owner’. There is only one Org Owner per EarthScan Organization. Additional users invited to the Organization can be assigned either ‘Member’ or ‘Admin’ permissions.

Organization roles and permissions
The user within your EarthScan Organization who creates a Portfolio is automatically assigned as the Portfolio Owner. Other users of the Portfolio are Contributors. Portfolio Owners and Contributors can be Members, Admins or Org Owners.
Please note: Only the Portfolio Owner can edit or delete it.
Customize your EarthScan Organization user permissions
Users are assigned a user role when they’re added to the Organization.
Learn how to add users to your EarthScan Organization.
Follow these steps to edit user permissions within your EarthScan Organization:
- From the EarthScan menu, hover over the square icon.
- Select ‘Permissions’ from the options that appear.
- Hover over the name of the user and select either ‘Admin’ or ‘Member’ from the dropdown menu to change the permissions for this user.
- A pop-up message appears confirming the permissions have been updated.

The Org Owner can customize user roles at any time.
