Manage users within your EarthScan Organization

Discover how to add and remove users to and from your EarthScan™ Organization

After reading this article, you will learn:

To find your EarthScan Organization, go to the EarthScan menu and hover over the square icon. Select ‘Org home’ from the options that appear. Here you will find all of the Portfolios that you have access to. 

User Types in EarthScan 

User type specifies the kind of permissions an EarthScan user holds, and is assigned by the user with the role of Org Owner. In EarthScan, there are three types of users: 

  • Members - users can view, create and share Portfolios
  • Admins - users have the same permissions as Members. And they can also:
      • Invite users to join the Organization
      • Remove Members from an Organization - but they cannot remove Admins
      • Promote users from Members to Admins - but they cannot change Admins to Members
  • Org Owners - users have the same permissions as Admins. And they can also:
      • Remove Admins from an Organization
      • Change users from Admins to Members

Adding Admin and Member users to an EarthScan Organization

Follow these steps to add a user to your Organization:

  1. Go to the EarthScan menu and hover over the square icon. Select ‘Permissions’ from the options that appear.
  2. Click on ‘+ Invite’. 
  3. A pop-up menu appears. Enter the email addresses of the people you want to add.
  4. The drop-down menu on the right side of the pop-up allows you to choose the user permissions of the people you’re inviting to join:
    • Admin - allows users to view and share Portfolios and invite other users to the organization
    • Member - allows users to view and share Portfolios only

  5.   Click the Invite button on the pop-up. This will send an invitation email to the users

         who will need to accept their invitation to gain access.

  6.   A pop-up message appears confirming the email invitation has been sent.

Removing users from an EarthScan Organization

It’s simple to remove a user from your Organization. Follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the EarthScan menu and hover over the square icon. Select ‘Permissions’ from the options that appear.
  2. Hover your mouse over the name of the user you’d like to remove.
  3. Click on the trash icon on the right side of the screen.               
  4. A pop-up message appears on screen once the user has been removed.
