The EarthScan Navigation Panel: Risk Categories

EarthScan™ Risk Categories represent different climate hazards to which your assets could be exposed

After reading this article, you will learn:

What are Risk Categories within EarthScan?

EarthScan Risk Categories represent different climate hazards your assets could be exposed to. Select individual Risk Categories in EarthScan to explore how the risk exposure to specific climate hazards affects your asset/s over time, and across different Climate Scenarios.

Currently, there are seven Risk Categories available to select. Six of these categories represent specific hazards: Heat Stress, Precipitation, Flooding, Wildfire, Wind and Drought

Combined Physical Risk is a synthesis of the individual risk ratings to enable quick comparisons between assets. The Combined Physical Risk EarthScan Rating is driven by the climate hazard that presents the greatest level of risk to your asset.

Each EarthScan Risk Category comprises a variety of representative metrics. Metrics are outputs from our models that contain decision-useful, asset-scale information. The most detailed Insight for each individual Risk Category contains the probabilistic climate hazard exposure metrics for your control selection. For example, if you select Heat Stress as your Risk Category and scroll down to the Insight titled 'Heat stress risk', you can view the change in the two Heat Stress metrics - heatwave length and maximum temperature.

Where are the Risk Categories located in EarthScan?

Within EarthScan, you can find the Risk Categories as part of the Navigation Panel.
